To coincide with the ceremony to re-open the Hoad monument Ford Park are planning a Monumental Gala Day event. Starting at 1pm Sunday Aug. 22nd

We have dusted down some old fashioned games from out of our shed including roll a penny, a hoop la game, a fishing game as well as others including the bits for a coconut shy.  We want to give it a nautical flavour to evoke the Spirit of Sir John Barrow, which is what the day is all about.

One of the highlights of the afternoon will be music in the way of a live performance of sea songs and shanties. These will be performed by a group of local musicians and singers which Colin our studio manager has press-ganged into service for this one off event. Their set will include two new songs especially commissioned for the day.

Ford Park will also be manning an impromptu cafe for the day serving paella and hot and cold drinks. The stage will be set out in this area so people can sit and listen whilst enjoying their Paella.

The Town Band will be performing at various times throughout the afternoon. For more information or to get involved email jackie@ford-park.org.uk call 01229 581845 We will also be hosting a major art installation called "Welcoming the world"  on that day

Our thanks to SLDC for their support of the live music for this event.
