Ford Park Community Group is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. The group formed in 1998 after the County Council announced they were going to sell Ford Park and there were fears that it would go to a private developer. Many Ulverstonians remember school days at Ford Park where they were taught all sorts of things, from motor mechanics to pig husbandry. The fields of Ford Park are also much loved by the community as a venue for events like the Lantern Procession and just for a place to picnic on a sunny day.

Our group is made up of volunteers and supporters from the community. The main objective of the group is to secure Ford Park for the enjoyment of the community. With the help of a loan from the Architectural Heritage Fund, we  purchased Ford Park and are now in the process of restoring and develop it.

The gardens and fields are maintained by volunteer members and the group employ a Centre Manager, Volunteer Co-ordinator, Caretaker and Cleaner. We also employ a project manager who is overseeing the development of the coach house which will eventually become our new offices as well as having a cafe and a new community room.

We put on events, Car Boot Sales and other fund-raising activities and meet on Volunteers Days to work in the grounds and enjoy a day out in the fresh air. We also run a community centre with rooms for hire in the main house

Anyone can join and you can get as involved as you wish. Some members just like to receive our Newsletters and come to the AGM whilst others come along to monthly meetings, volunteer to help at events or in the garden. If you really want to help shape the future of Ford Park then you may want to become a Trustee and be a part of the management committee.

The Council do not own Ford Park,
Although our community group has been established for 13 years it seems
that many of people who use Ford Park still believe that it is run by either the Town Council, or SLDC.

We receive no financial support from either of these public bodies.
