Slide and Supper Evenings
A chance to enjoy interesting speakers, good food and great company. The cost of £10 includes a hot supper after the talk. The bar will be open and booking is essential (01229 581666).

4th Feb - A Walk in Mustang: A land of monasteries, high cliffs caves and rock formations close to the Tibetan border with Sheila Bull.

18th FebTree Detective: Grizedale Hall. How old is the famous Grizedale monkeypuzzle, who planted it and why? Chartered forester and arboriculturalist Luke Steer shares insights into the people and planting behind the magnificent legacy of trees which remain at Grizedale long after the demise of Grizedale Hall.

25th Feb  - Airships & Balloon Adventures: Join Peter Ward, former Airship Association Chairman and helium gas specialist, as he outlines the history of Vickers Barrow airship building and shares first hand experiences of being part of Richard Branson’s Global Challenger Balloon team.

3rd March – This Will Blow Your Socks Off: In a challenge to conventional theory author Simon A. Clarke will tell you what anthropologists, archaeologists and geneticists can’t tell you about human history.

These are now run independently on our field which is hired for the purpose. They happen every Thursday (weather permitting) from 1.30pm to 5.30pm until the end of September plus some extra ones on Saturdays including on Apple Day Saturday October 3rd. Holiday Fun! Simply turn up at the Garden room in the walled garden 10 minutes before advertised start time to ensure your place at the session -these are activities run on Wednesday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm during the school holidays All activities are FREE, but donations always much appreciated!
