Picnic blankets at the ready as the Festival Players visit Ford Park this July with their latest touring production of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.

The acclaimed theatre company, who have delighted audiences at the Ulverston park for the past few years, return on Saturday 20 July with this delicious comedy, which has been popular for over 400 years.

“The course of true love never did run smooth”, but the sparring antics of Shakespeare’s erstwhile lovers, Beatrice and Benedick, provide great hilarity for the other members of the household who plot to reunite them. Against this background, another romance is almost derailed by the scheming of a jealous duke.

Combined with an all-male, energetic, colourful production, enhanced by original songs composed by Johnny Coppin, it promises to be a real summer treat for all the family.

The performance starts at 7.30pm, with the park open for picnics beforehand, and visitors are asked to bring their own seating, rugs or blankets. Hot and cold drinks and refreshments will be available.
