Talk & Supper: Ulverston Carnival – over a century of celebration
A special Talk and Supper evening to celebrate Ulverston Carnival.
On Friday June 28, we welcome Graham Whalan to present ‘The Ulverston Carnival Parade: over a century of celebration’ – ahead of this year’s town carnival on July 6.
For more than 100 years the annual ‘Carnival Parade’ has been an established feature of Ulverston life. In this illustrated talk, Graham charts its origins as a fundraising initiative for local hospital care, its history and subsequent development through the years.
Born in Ulverston, Graham Whalan’s recent books on the Coronation Hall and local amateur theatre were inspired by his experiences of growing up in the town, and a new book about the full range of Ulverston’s Festivals is due out soon.
The talk is followed by a sociable supper. 7-9pm, £12.50 per person, including supper. Bar will be open. 10% discount for Ford Park Members. Booking essential, call 01229 581666
