The experts have had their say and this summer, Ford Park received a prestigious Green Flag Award – for the fourth year running.
This international award, now into its third decade, is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.
Now, the Award Scheme is asking the nation to have its say and decide which parks and green spaces should receive the People’s Choice Award for being the UK’s favourites.
Whether visiting Ford Park to play football, walk the dog, explore the playground, enjoy the café, or simply enjoy the peace, visitors to the Ulverston park are being urged by staff and volunteers to help the charity-run attraction gain further recognition.
Jill Salmon, Chief Executive of Ford Park Community Group, said: “To receive the Green Flag award, for the fourth consecutive year is a wonderful acknowledgement of the hard work from the staff and volunteers here on a daily basis, but to gain an award which has been voted for by the public – the users and supporters of the park – would be incredible.
“If people can spare a few moments to vote for us, please do – as it really will make a difference.”
To vote for Ford Park, simply visit www.greenflagaward.org, find Ford Park on the winners map and click the voting button. Voting opens from September 1 and closes September 30, with the top 10 sites being announced on October 16.
Paul Todd, Green Flag Award Manager, said: “This year 1,883 parks and green spaces met the tough standards demanded by our Green Flag Award Judges but we want to know which parks the UK public love the most.
“The People’s Choice award is a chance to show how much your favourite park means to you. If it’s worth shouting about, make your voice heard and vote now.”
