FP NEW PLAYGROUND.jpg

Play, Learn, Explore.

Ford Park is open all year round for you to enjoy, and there's so much to discover...

Our new and inclusive playground was opened in May 2022 and provides children of all ages and abilities with play equipment designed to encourage imaginative play.  The playground is edged with step-over-apple trees, which act as a natural border that will help children learn about different varieties of apples, how to check when they are ripe, and encourage them to enjoy these healthy snacks.

The fields provide wide open spaces for everyone to enjoy, perfect for ball games, exercising and picnicking. You’ll also see many young trees – these trees form our all-British Arboretum and will soon be surrounded by a carpet of wildflowers, encouraging wildlife and pollinators into the park.

Our woodland trails and zig-zag path are the perfect hunting ground for our young explorers, with so many trees, plants and inhabitants to discover.

The path leads onto a beautiful willow arch – the perfect place to sit in the shade, to rest, read a book or share tales of things discovered in the park…

Continue along the path, behind the Coach House, and you’ll find our community orchard. In the summer the orchard is filled with the beautiful fragrance of roses, has grapes growing along the wall, trees full of apples and beautiful wildflowers.

There’s also a picnic bench for those trepid explorers who remembered to pack their lunch!

Head back down the main path and discover our walled garden. Filled with seasonal plants, flowers and vegetables our walled garden is a delight to the senses.

The garden is cared for by our Gardener and a dedicated team of volunteers who plant seeds and pot plants to grow in the park and to sell from our plant nursery. Our team are always on hand if you have any questions about the plants and about our all natural gardening methods.

And let’s not forget the wildlife – Ford Park is proud to call itself home to a variety of wildlife, some of which you will be able to spot as you stroll around the paths.
