We’re absolutely delighted to share some fantastic news that marks a major milestone for Ford Park and the wider Ulverston community. After months of hard work, anticipation, and hope, we can officially announce that Ford Park has been selected to receive a portion of the GSK £2 million Legacy funding!
What does this mean for Ford Park?
Thanks to the GSK Taskforce’s decision, this generous funding will allow us to build a brand new, eco-friendly community building which will be constructed with sustainability in mind, featuring enough solar panels to cover the building’s needs!
This new building will open up so many new possibilities for our park and everyone who enjoys it. The new facility will be more accessible than ever, enabling us to host bigger events and fundraisers, educational visits, and a wider range of activities for all ages, and will be available for hire to local businesses and the community.
We are incredibly grateful to GSK for providing this legacy funding, and to the Taskforce, convened by local MP Michelle Scrogham, for the time and care they put into reviewing over thirty creative and inspiring project submissions from across Ulverston. To have Ford Park’s project selected from such a strong number of submissions, means so much to everyone who loves and uses this special green space.
A Lasting Impact for Ulverston.
Ford Park is one of Ulverston’s most cherished community spaces, welcoming around 14,000 visitors each year. This project is all about protecting the park and preserving it as a free, accessible asset for the town, both today and for generations to come. The new building will support a wide range of community groups, provide much-needed educational facilities, and help us continue to offer a welcoming space for everyone.
We’d also like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to The Spot and its dedicated volunteers, who have also been awarded funding to renovate their building and create more community space for Ulverston’s residents and groups. The impact of this £2 million legacy donation will be felt across the town, providing lasting educational, cultural, well-being, and leisure benefits for future generations.
Thank You, Ulverston!
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support, creativity, and passion of our community. We’re so grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey so far, from sharing ideas and feedback to volunteering your time and energy.
We can’t wait to keep you updated as plans progress for the new community building. Together, we’re securing the future of Ford Park and ensuring it remains a vibrant, welcoming space for all.
Stay tuned for more updates and thank you for being part of our story!
