Unearthing a little bit of history... A few weeks ago, a team of dedicated volunteers were busy pulling up brambles to create a new border near the entrance of Ford Park, when they uncovered a rather large and unusual stone buried beneath the undergrowth. Curious about their find, the team reached out to Bob, a local geologist, who quickly confirmed that the stone was no ordinary rock. Compost is crucial at Ford Park. All the wonderful plants and flowers we have growing in the wall garden and in the park rely on compost. In collaboration with the charity Garden Organic, the compost demonstration site was established in 2023 as a place to teach visitors about how to compost in their own homes. It plays an impactful role in making sure that nothing in Ford Park goes to waste.

Gardening has proven benefits for our physical and emotional wellbeing. In my own garden, I had felt the satisfaction that comes from growing more herbs and nurturing our potted plants. Volunteering at Ford Park presented me with a unique opportunity to broaden my gardening knowledge and get to know other like-minded people.
