Nothing goes to waste at Ford Park

Ever wondered what we've done with the trees and bushes we had to remove?
As part of the early work to make way for the new Community Room, we’ve had to clear a small area of trees and shrubs. We know how much people care about the green, natural feel of Ford Park, so we wanted to share what’s happened next and reassure you that we’ve made sure nothing goes to waste.
Last week, our team made the most of the dry weather and fed the smaller branches and greenery into the chipper. The woodchip will be used around the park and garden, including to help protect the espalier trees that border the playground.
And it’s not just the smaller stuff. The thicker branches and logs are being kept too, so we can use them to create extra habitat around the park; the sort of natural nooks and crannies that are brilliant for wildlife and insects.
A huge thank you to our fabulous volunteers for getting stuck in and doing such a great job. It’s a real Ford Park effort - thoughtful, practical, and making the most of what we have.
