Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do here at Ford Park. The things that keep Ford Park a beautiful community green space for all to enjoy, don’t just happen by accident. They happen because our amazing volunteers turn up no matter what the weather to work alongside our small team.
They’re the ones tending the paths and gardens, planting and weeding, repairing and mending, emptying bins and quietly getting on with the jobs that keep the park open. They also turn up really early at weekends to help with events and to support school visits so children can learn, explore and enjoy the park in a hands-on way.
Our Inclusive Volunteer Programme doesn’t just help us take care of the park, it’s about making sure more people can be part of Ford Park, in a way that works for them, and making volunteering feel friendly, purposeful and genuinely rewarding for everyone who wants to get involved.
Our volunteers tell us again and again how much they love the park. They love being part of the community, and they love the work itself. If you were to sneak into the garden room at tea break, you’d see the team spirit, the pride everyone takes in the work they do, and hear all the chatter and laughter shared over a brew and a slice or two of cake.
We couldn’t do it without them, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our funders.
We’re very grateful to have received grant funding recently, and we’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to those who have helped.
Thank you to the Kirkby Moor Wind Farm Community Fund, The Frieda Scott Charitable Trust, Ulverston Town Council and the Sir John Fisher Foundation for their generous donations towards our Inclusive Volunteer Programme.
If you’re a local business or organisation that would like to support the work we do here at Ford Park, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
